Safety and community guidelines

Curio is a private two-player game, not a public chat forum. These guidelines explain what we expect from players, what we block, and how to report problems.

The short version

Be kind. Do not harass people. Do not share illegal or sexual content involving minors. Do not try to break the product. If someone makes you uncomfortable, leave the room and report the message.

How rooms work

Duo rooms are invite-only. You only play with someone who has your link or code. Treat that link like a private invitation.

Stranger mode matches you with another player who is also looking to play. Because you do not know each other, Stranger chat has stronger automated filtering, and we take reports seriously.

Rooms are temporary. When a session ends or is abandoned, related game data is cleaned up on a short schedule. Details: privacy policy.

What is not allowed

Breaking these rules can mean removed messages, ended rooms, or blocked access. Serious cases may be reported to authorities when required by law.

Tips for safer play

Do not share your real full name, address, workplace, school, or financial details in chat — especially in Stranger mode. Nicknames are enough.

If a prompt or chat goes somewhere you do not like, you can leave. You do not owe a stranger a full session.

Parents and guardians: Curio is not directed at young children. Use device-level controls if you manage a shared phone.

How to report

In an active room, use the report option on a chat message when available. Include what happened if the form asks for detail.

Outside a room, use the feedback form or email hello@curioroom.net with the room code and approximate time if you have them.

Our commitments

We design Curio to collect as little as practical to run a session. We do not sell player chat as a data product. Ads, when shown, appear on content pages — not inside the active game room UI.

Legal terms: Terms of Use. Product background: About and the Curio playbook.
