Updated July 27, 2026. Curio is built to collect as little as practical. You do not need an account to play. This page explains what we store, why, and how long it lasts.
Curio is the two-player browser game at curioroom.net. For privacy questions, contact hello@curioroom.net or use the feedback form.
To run a private room we temporarily store: a player token tied to your browser session, the nickname and avatar you choose, answers and game state for that room, and chat messages sent in that room. We may store a room or host token in local storage so you can return to an active session.
If you submit feedback or an abuse report, we keep the message content and related metadata (such as room code and time) long enough to investigate.
We may record approximate country-level visit stats for product analytics. We do not use that to build personal profiles for sale.
Playing does not require an email, phone number, payment method, or social login. We do not ask for your real name. We do not sell personal information. We do not build a public profile for you.
Finished and abandoned rooms are deleted on a short schedule (typically within about 7 days). Session tokens expire when the session ends. Feedback and abuse reports may remain longer while we review them or keep needed operational records.
Essential session cookies keep the game working (for example, knowing which player you are in a room). Local storage may hold a room token so you can resume. On first visit you may see a cookie banner: you can keep essential-only use where that control is offered.
If you accept analytics or advertising cookies, third parties listed below may set additional cookies according to their policies.
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how the product is used at an aggregate level. That helps us fix broken flows and improve guides. Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers. See Google’s privacy policy.
We may show ads through Google AdSense on content pages such as the blog, About, and How it works. Ads are not shown inside the active game room interface. Ad partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads. You can manage ad personalization in Google Ads settings.
Our ads.txt file authorizes Google as a seller for this domain.
Google (Analytics and AdSense) may process data under their own terms. Hosting and email delivery providers may process technical logs needed to keep the site online. We choose vendors that are ordinary for a small web product; we do not sell your chat contents as a data product.
Curio is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has used the service in a way that concerns you, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
You can clear site data in your browser to remove local tokens. You can block non-essential cookies via the banner or browser settings. You can email us to ask questions about data we hold related to feedback or reports you submitted.
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy for future sessions.
